I am popping down to Ashton Court Bristol for some XC fun on Sunday and all are welcome as I will be taking in Ashton Courts trails and Leigh woods across the road

I will be ready to ride at 9.30 am and plan on  4 hours of riding or more if we feel like it on the day and the weather is kind including a few cups of tea and cake or bacon butty’s of course.

This is a trail center so stands up pretty well in the fowl months and has a cafe for a cuppa and bacon butty .

Trails are fast flowing  and you can trundle around at your own pace or you can push your limits and put the hammer down and race yer mates whatever floats your boat and you can’t realy get lost or get left to far behind .

Also Leigh woods across the road offers some techy fast flowing trails with some skills sections and some pumpy sections and again is fast flowing but slightly more demanding.

All are welcome from Green, Blue and Red as we can split into groups if needed or I am pretty happy with any group to be honest as the emphasis will be on having a laugh as since the demise of the famous Octoberfest bike fest I haven’t ridden here.

Suitable for hardtail or full suss MTB.

Knee pads/ Advisable/ hardshell or softshell

Helmet/ compulsory of course .

Gloves/ Recomended

Hydration/ Recomended

Sense of  humor / Advantageous

They recommend parking in Church lodge car park
Long Ashton Rd Bristol BS419JH .
So we will meet there .
This is not the usual golf club car park up the hill mind .

  2. If you’re still feeling competitive after Ashton Ct / Leigh Woods and are heading off for some Tarmac action, time-trials up Bridge Valley Road will be a good test!
Head down to the bottom of Ashton Court, past the mansion-house, exit the park, head toward the Police Horse centre and then across the road to join the cycle-path, under the flyover (past the pump-track) and you pop out by BW Cycles, from there, pop along the Portway, and then head up Bridge Valley Road to the Downs. Could also do a circuit or two of the Downs as well.

  3. OK Paul, will go to your new suggested start point.
er, thanks Chris, I was just thinking of cycling to Clifton for a coffee 😀
