February 2010 Club Meeting…

Don't forget to buy the one you love a card this valentine; bikes need love too!

Hello one and all to 2010!

The first meeting of 2010 kicked off with the news that we’ve grown to 54 members now – excellent! The recruitment drive that started off with the intro rides continues and I’m sure there are many more new members to come

Please remind people that have been out with us a few times that they will need to join to carry on riding (because our insurance only covers them for a few guest rides).

Total funds are £265.50. We had a few small outlays around the Christmas/New Year events but we also made a modest income from the raffle and new members.

Rides. Regular Wednesday rides are pretty much sorted out on their usual rotation. Sunday rides were organised after a bit of discusion on variations to favourite ride locations.

The previous weeks Intro ride was well attended with six potential new riders. Jason to mark up the next Intro rides in the calendar.

Jason to put up rides on calendar, others to contribute events and specials to the Feb calendar.

Rides were also suggested for Ashton Court to check out the Brizzle course. Also possible Rhyder Wales trip too.

Website tweaking to include a specific Events page and possibly a Bigfoot Roll of Honour was also mentioned.

Andrew to check out the easiest way to sort an Events page that links things back to the calendar entry. Some semi manual method might be needed for this.

Events. We discussed Bigfoots ‘A’ races for the year where we would like to see a good turn out of members and have a few teams entered. These are mainly the Bristol Bikefest 12hr and the Bontrager 12/24. Other people mentioned that races like the Enduro 6 would be interesting. The Marin Rough Ride was another possible event mentioned.

There was a small amount of team-mate poaching which should result in a mixed 24hr team for the Bontrager; to be confirmed. Ed and Ian (PJ) said they would be up for the team races too.

As a quick rundown we’ve got (subject to confirmation):

Enduro 6:

Andrew, Jason (just interested not a team yet…)

Bristol 12:

Janet, Andrew, Ed, Jason, Ian (PJ) + three others to make up two teams between them.

Timmy + Rach in the pairs.

Bontrager 12:

Janet, James, Ian + others to make a team

Bontrager 24:

Mark, Andrew, Abi, Jase, Pete mixed team

Ian, Ed + others to make a team

Tim and Rach in the pairs (not sure if 12 or 24)?

Need to drum up some more interest before things fill up too soon – Andrew to wiz around some posts regarding getting teams together.

Jerseys: it’s about time we got some more jerseys done. Rachel has confirmed that Andy would be pleased to help out with the design again. It was generally felt that keeping with the orange again would be good.

It was agreed that the previous jerseys were spot on design and material/quality wise but were very unpredictable on the fit front. Endura and Imp Sport were both mentioned as potential printers for the next batch, both have a good reputation for quality and fit!

Andrew to check out if t’other Andrew fancies getting an updated design together and approach Endura/Imp Sport to get an idea of prices.

Janet pointed out that we were overdue an AGM to elect the committe members. Oops, I thought that we ran those to match the financial year! If no-one objects we can have one in March/April in line with the membership drive. Sorry about that. Bad chairman, bad chairman!
