French Alps trip

Meribel Ridge

Meribel Ridge

The itinerary went something like this:

Day 1: Mostly riding in the wooded hillsides around Bourg & Peisey – Jackson’s & Mech Check, Granny’s Garden, Black8 White8. Rain & thunderstorms, so wet & slippy rocks & roots!

Day 2: Around Peisey, Landry & Aime – South Side Finale & Vol Au Vent, Dirty Protest & Vallee Descente, Les Praizes & Jiz Gasket.

Day 3: HEIDI trail from Col de l’Iseran – a bit more about that here

Rest day: obvs the hardcore went riding, I went shopping for sunglasses in Bourg as mine cracked, presumably under the weight of camera & baguette in my Camelbak.

Day 4: Mont Jovet – in clouds, damp & chilly at the top, but a fab open Alpine ride.

Day 5: Meribel Ridge – thoroughly gorgeous weather, great views over to Mont Blanc and other Alps classics like Grandes Jorasses.

Once again I think Trail Addiction did a great job – uplifts, guides & especially the food.

For anyone who hasn’t seen the photos via Facebook, they are over here

A fun week was had by all I think, no major mechanicals apart from punctures, brake pad wear and some broken spokes. Now who’s going to crack first and start the ‘where next’ discussion…

  1. ah slight error in itinerary, whilst you all slept some (well one) got a sneaky Day -1 ride in.

riding 6 days with a knackered shoulder didn’t help but defo up for some Alps (or other high mountain area) on and off road action again next year.

Thanks for sorting GGG Mike as well and all for the great company and ensuring the free wine got nailed each night 😉

Highlight for me was the last 2 days rides, proper high Alpine riding starting from a top of a mountain after a monster climb and a push up, along sweet single track trails skirting the mountain side, into forest switch back single track to low alpine trails through the villages….to a beer at the end!

  2. Yeah sorry Jason, I forgot your Day 0 ride and my walk up to Plan Peisey – all a bit of a blur after that long drive.
Agreed the big mountain days were the best, and let’s not forget the coffee and cake at the end of the trail too. 🙂

  3. were defiantly gunna have to start organising something for next year. After such a great week of riding and good company. nice one guys. 🙂

  4. Yes it was a great trip, really enjoyed it. The mountain days did it for me & the Meribel ridge ride, rates amongst one of the bests days riding I have done. Would love to go back & do it again or maybe try the Beaufort region?
