Hi all.  just a quick update to tell you about our trip to Kirroughtree-Scotland on the “Scotland long weekender” Day 4. Previously 10 of us had a fantastic three days of riding at Ae, Glentress and Innerleithin, and I guess our Bigfoot star photographer can tell you about that :-). Our final day was looking a bit of a washout with rain covering most of the UK, however three intrepid adventurers: DanW, SimonP and myself decided to try our luck at Kirroughtree which was just outside of the predicted rain band. And indeed it was! Blue skies, warmth and a fresh sea breeze, yay! 🙂

The trails were fantastic as predicted. We did the red + black trail, which was very pedally but with many descents, technical rock features and sudden drops keeping the excitement there for the whole 2.5 hour riding time: we kept a fast pace throughout. OK, we didn’t have a fast pace on the black “skull and cross-bones” trials section… “McMoab”. Now that was something else. I never rode anything like that before. Simon gave us advice passed down from the trials master – TailwhipperDave – and I can confirm it was correct: keep suspension locked throughout. I still have an image in my mind of DanW and Simon slowly descending the granite rock faces at impossible angles framed by the forest, mountains and blue skies, but have no photos to show as I was doing the same! Check it out on the Seven Stanes website or on youtube.

We had some cups between us on this baby. Simon on a nasty climb and myself on “The Judgement” (wahay!). What a beasting. I can confirm that superglue will have to be applied to the duck.

Another momentus day, followed by a sunny drive back on clear motorways.

  1. Nice one guys, looks like you had the car park pretty much to yourselves. Agreed about McMoab – really enjoyed that last year and it makes the long route worthwhile.
