Ah, the smell of sausages and burgers!!

As the Bigfoot member that appears to be doing the least riding and most eating, I’m taking this opportunity to drum up some interest in the annual Bigfoot BBQ and Fun Day.

The date is confirmed for Saturday 1st September from 1pm. All members are welcome along with kids, partners, wives, husbands etc. If you plan on coming along to join in the fun, please get your name down and also a rough idea of how many extras you’re bringing. In no particular order, the activities for the afternoon will be:

The Shopper Challenge: probably the most competitive race of the calendar and almost certainly the most sought after prize – forget your Gold medals and yellow jerseys. The awesome shopper bike! There will be runner up prizes as well.

Mini Shopper Challenge: a new event but no doubt equally competitive. The race for the kids.

Pre scoffing rides: for those interested, there will be an XC ride and road ride arranged for 11ish allowing for appetites to be maximised. Depending on offers of leaders will determine the nature of the rides.

Sports activities. Tim K will be the Leisure King in charge here. Volleyball, cricket, football etc. Or just spectate – the choice is yours.

And last, but by no means least, the Grillmaster himself! Ah, me! I’ll be flipping a few burgers and sausages to keep you all fuelled through the afternoon. The club will be providing the requisite meat based products. We’ll sort out some other odds and ends – salads etc nearer the time. If anyone has any specific dietary requirements, best shout out.

This will be discussed at the monthly meeting on Tuesday, but helpers are always appreciated. Given the recent destruction of the club gazebo, and I’m assuming it won’t be replaced in the next couple of weeks, if anyone has one they wouldn’t mind bringing, I’m sure it would be useful (to keep the blazing sun off the cakes!).
